A burnt odor may be associated with overheated transmission fluid or excessive friction, but the smell could also come from leaking fluid on hot surfaces, brakes, or an electrical concern.

Odor alone cannot establish the condition of the transmission. Fluid inspection, operating symptoms, and other findings are needed to determine what has happened.

Contact Certified Transmission in Council Bluffs if the smell returns or occurs with slipping, leaks, or warning messages. If you see smoke or suspect a fire, stop safely, turn off the vehicle, and seek appropriate assistance.
